My name is Dr. Tyler King — husband, father, board-certified family physician, Captain in the United States Army Reserve, and your City Council Member for District 6.
Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, my path to public service has always been rooted in serving others. Before medical school, I taught high school history in Donna, TX as a Teach For America corps member. I later completed medical school and my Family Medicine Residency at Laredo Medical Center — where I fell in love with this community.
My wife, Alejandra, and I made the decision to build our lives here and raise our daughters,Sophia and Victoria, in Laredo. What began as a place to complete my medical training became the place we proudly call home.
In 2022, the voters of District 6 entrusted me with the privilege of serving on the Laredo City Council. As a physician, I spend my days listening to people, solving problems, and helping families navigate challenges — and I've tried to bring that same approach to public service: practical solutions, transparency, and results.
Over the last four years, we've made meaningful progress together. We've invested in neighborhood streets, expanded parks and recreational opportunities, improved traffic safety, strengthened water infrastructure, and laid the groundwork for Laredo's future growth. I'm proud of what we've accomplished — but I believe our most important work still lies ahead.
That's why I'm running for a second term.
Laredo is at a critical moment. The decisions we make today about water, infrastructure, economic development, public safety, and quality of life will shape our city for decades to come. We're closer than ever to securing new water sources, expanding recreational opportunities, improving mobility, and making long-overdue investments in our neighborhoods. I want to keep building on that momentum and help ensure Laredo remains a great place to live, work, raise a family, and build a future.
Local government should focus on the basics: safe neighborhoods, reliable infrastructure, quality parks, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Those priorities guided my first term, and they'll continue to guide me if given the opportunity to serve again.
Service has always been at the center of my life — as a physician, Army officer, husband, father, and council member. I would be honored to earn your trust and support for one more term as your representative on the Laredo City Council.
